What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?I believe that the best thing at my school are the teachers and their ability to work with each student independently. They show great care and respect to every student. They also do a great job at helping and explaining everything. What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?I wish I knew more about the everyday life and the activities that go on during the year. I had no clue what to expect for everyday life and wish I did. I also didn’t know about the activities that went on here.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?The worst thing about attending Wartburg College is definitely the expense. Tuition is ridiculously high, and mandatory student expenses exceed $400 so that the college may pay off it’s own debt garnered from the building of an entirely new sports facility. I think the college should have used whosever money they borrowed to rebuild the auditorium as it is literally falling in pieces. I thought I could get by with the financial aid I’ve received and the two part-time jobs I’m working. But it’s becoming difficult. What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?I wish I had known how very small the town is, and the fact that there is no public transportation apart from cabs that must be called. I also wish I had known that the school generally pays only minimum wage and there aren’t many places to work where you could get by with tips. I wish I had realized the extent of debt I would be getting into by attending this college as a citizen from a background of relative deprivation.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?Wartburg college has so much to offer, but one negative about it is the lack of diversity.  We have international students from MULTIPLE different countries; however, unless one makes a committed effort to interacting with them, students here may not get that involved with them and learn about their cultures. For future or current students, I advise he or she to interact with all types of different people in order to get the full college experience. The international students that I have talked to have shared incredible stories, and have so much to offer us!Describe your school in one sentence.Wartburg College is a relatively small, private college in Iowa, perfect for students looking for a friendly, home-away-from-home atmosphere, and that is dedicated to the education of it’s students, and the relationship between the school and it’s staff, alumni, and town members.

What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?I love that the programs often allow you to get experience in the field even during your first year. Education majors have field experience even during the first semester. I will begin observing a music therapy session starting tomorrow as well. I’m glad they allow this because at other colleges I wouldn’t be taking music therapy courses until my junior year. This way I am able to see if I love the major I picked or whether I should keep exploring early on.Describe your school in one sentence.Wartburg college is a liberal arts school dedicated to learning in and outside of your major, providing service to the community, and exploring your faith and beliefs in an encouraging setting.
