What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school? It is easy to find friends that have similar interests to you. There is a good variety of things to be involved in—church, sports, music; everyone can find somewhere that they fit. The campus has a strong extracurricular program so students should not be bored when they arrive. There are plenty of ways to be involved and make friends.,What’s the most frustrating thing about your school? Our school often spends money on things that I would say are unneccessary. Currently, tuition and housing rates are going up because of the economic situation and the school is spending money on landscaping and other projects that aren’t necessities. There are things that I think better deserve the money—buildings on campus, funding for education programs—that have difficulty getting money.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?The worst thing about school was the amount of loans I had to take to cover the cost.,What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school? The thing that I brag about UMHB is having professors who really cared. They not only cared about rigorous scholarship but also teaching students how to learn scholarship. This included honesty about current level of scholarship and how increase scholarship. The professors also cared about me personally, not just as a student. They wanted me to succeed.

Describe your school in one sentence. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is a great Christian school based on leadership and faith-informed discernment; UMHB offers a wide variety of majors and minors and has a vast range of student backgrounds.,What’s the most frustrating thing about your school? The most frustrating thing about Mary Hardin-Baylor is that the school is very strict on policies and there is a fine for everything, including chasing squirrels!

What is your school best known for?The school is best known for its Southern Baptist influence.  UMHB is located in Belton, Texas.  Belton is located in the Bible Belt, so there is a strong Southern Baptist influence there.  Students familiar with Southern Baptist Churches and those comfortable in that environment, will enjoy the atmosphere of the school more.  People from other faiths are welcome to attend.,What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?The classes are small, and all of my teachers learned my name.  The professors seem to be there for teaching, and are not distracted by all of the research requirements that some bigger universities require.  They seemed to care whether I passed the course, and that was good, because I did too!  I even attended a Christmas Party hosted by the Department Head.  He invited all of his students and faculty in the department to the party at his house.
