What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?Too much competition. I am asian, but I have to say it is annoying when you get those kiss-asses always sucking up to the professors to get a better grade. Also, don’t forget the douchebags.Describe your school in one sentence.well-renowned.

What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? What makes UCSD highly acclaimed is that is heavily based on research.  Although other universities focuses more on practical skills, UCSD puts forth theological considerations.  This has helped in terms of giving students opportunities to develop independent research in what they are interested such as creating new projects and studying abroad.  It also gives students opportunities to work with professors who are constantly doing their own research as well. What’s the most frustrating thing about your school? The most frustrating thing about my school is that it is so competitive that the majority of the students forget to balance their life between work and play.  Although it is extremely important for students to be constantly challenged in order to realize their abilities, it gets to a point where it is extremely cut-throat that people compete to get the best scores among their peers instead of appreciating the materials learned in class.  In turn, this leads to limited social activities and a lack of social interactions.

What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?The best thing I consider about this school is the opportunities for biological and scientific research. This school’s main focus is truly in the biological sciences as it is one of the leading research schools in the nation. It is well suited for those students who want to go into pre-med/healthcare/research fields in the future.,What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? The most unique aspect of this school is its extremely close proximity to the ocean. Because of this, many research insititutions such as scripps are dedicated to oceanography and other studies involving water. Almost all faculty is involved in their own research in which many undergraduates have the opportunity to particpate in and have the possibility to publish their own papers. The university is also a medical school, so many undergraudates can interact with medical students as well.

What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? My school is separated into six different colleges, each with their own set of dorms/apartments, a dining hall, and a small market place with a coffee shop. UCSD in itself is a large university, but having each college allows its students to feel more at home in a large place, and are able to have a smaller community within a larger one.,What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school? The environment. When I first walked onto my campus, I could just feel how friendly and inviting the place was. Everyone I met was happy and open and really made me feel welcome at the school. The people as well are amazing. All of the students are highly motivated and love learning; it is truly an inspirational place to study!
