What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?The best thing about my school is the ample leadership opportunities that everyone is encouraged to participate in. Not only do we take classes related to leadership, but are given charge of ships with a crew of classmates. We are given a task that must be completed and are shown how to do it but are then left at the Conn to command a ship and crew to accomplish our task. Nowhere else is leadership taught, but instilled. Throughout the four years, one may even get the opportunity to command the Brigade with approximately 5000 Midshipman.,What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered?Only at the Naval Academy can one become an officer in the United States Navy who embodies leadership, honor, and knowledge. While true that other colleges contain ROTC programs the train officers, they don’t train leaders. With a greater number of leadership opportunities, as well as direct, daily interaction with high level officers, we are molded into combat ready junior officers that can lead our enlisted sailors and Marines as well as being comfortable enough around our superiors to do what needs to be done without succumbing to Captainitis. Where others commit time to training, we commit our lives.

What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?I wish I would have known that the standards are much lower than they try to portray to the media and general public.,What kind of person shouldn’t attend this school?Anyone who isn’t willing to sacrifice for others and work hard without always getting rewarded should think twice. You should be a very motivated person who can deal with adversity and not lose sight of your goals.

Describe your classmates in one sentence.Dedicated professionals who are highly talented and diverse in background.  Fellow students come from all over the united states and countries across the globe.  Truely a distinguished bunch of patriots and civil servants.,What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?I wish I knew the best approach to the heavy load of reading and a sound strategy for managing the time provided to complete the requirements.  Detailed consumption of all assigned reading is difficult to maintain over an extended period of time.  A focused approach towards digging up the main ideas and themes is a better way to maximize reading time.

What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? It’s a military academy. It guarantees a career after graduation. I get paid to go there.,What’s the most frustrating thing about your school?Female to Male ratio- there are approx 80% male and 20% female. The little amount of free time we get.
