What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered?St. Olaf stuck out to me because of its excellence both in music and in academics, specifically mathematics (my double major). It seemed to have the best balance between conservatory quality music training and a highly regarded liberal arts education. What’s the most frustrating thing about your school?I guess I would say the most frustrating thing is something that doesn’t relate to St. Olaf directly at all, and that is the scarcity of time I have in college. It’s difficult for me to fit in everything that I need to get done, and will definitely require further development of my time management skills. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my college choice and don’t feel that there’s anything expressly frustrating about this school in particular.

Describe your school in one sentence.St. Olaf is my dream and I am glad I am a student here; education is power, therefore I feel very powerful with respect to my present situation and future endeavors. What do you wish you had known before you came to this school? The importance of looking at other colleges during my application process. I also wish I know how important it is to take math, science and english classes in my senior year of high school so that this information would have been fresh in my mind in my freshman year at St. Olaf.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?The work load is probably the worst thing about St. Olaf.  That is why it is essential to be time efficient here.  Most of the classes require much studying, reading, and writing, but in the end, it is worth it.What kind of person should attend this school?I would describe the ideal characteristics sor someone who wants to attend St. Olaf as the following: desire to expand knowledge in multiple areas of study, willing to learn, dedicated, caring for the community, and compassionate for what they do.  You should be time efficient and willing to work hard.  This is also a great school for someone looking to grow deeper in their faith.

What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?Although St. Olaf is located in a fairly small city/town, I didn’t realize that it would be quite so isolated from the rest of the world. Yes, there are plenty of ways to go to the Twin Cities and other places if one wishes, but social life exists almost exclusively on campus. Still, this isn’t a huge deal for me and wouldn’t have affected my decision.
