What kind of person should attend this school? The best kind of person to attend this school would be one that wants to receive a quality education and has the drive to do so; someone who is intrigued and sees benefit in studying alongside peoples of all different ages as cultures. The person that wants to attend this school should be someone that is wise with their money and willing to make the most of their educational experience while paying the least.,What’s the most frustrating thing about your school? So far I have been very impressed by my school. The diversity is incredible and the atmosphere very unique. If I had to pick one thing that frustrates me most, it would probably be academic advising. I haven’t had any problems with it myself, but many of my classmates have and have had difficulty trying to fix scheduling problems or application problems because of lack of good counsel from good advisors.

What is your school best known for?I would say my school is best known for being in the center of Columbus.  Columbus State is a very popular community college that is fastly growing.  I think this school is really just known for being a successful community college that gives many people in the community a greater opportunity for a higher education.,What kind of person shouldn’t attend this school?I think the kind of person who shouldn’t attend this school is really just anyone who is not prepared for college.  Some of the people I’ve come acrossed do not work hard enough, they just expect to pass without even doing anything.  This school really is good for anyone who wants to further thier education.  They have small classes which makes it a lot easier to get individual attention.

What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?The best thing about my school is the distance learning programs. I am able to work full time, take care of my three children and mother, and attend college full time on my own schedule. Life often would prevent me from attending scheduled classes so Columbus State was the best choice in my current life situation. My children love to visit campus with me and I’ll admit I snuck in a history lesson when we saw the statue in the courtyard.,What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?College is hard. It is not something to take lightly. It is a wonderful yet terrifying experience. In returning to school after ten years you realize all your learning skills are rusty.  I wish I had taken refresher courses to better prepare myself upon entering college.  I wish I had known what a rewarding experience this is. My first quarter ended with a 4.0 GPA. What a rush to be able to motivate my children to strive for excellance.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?The worst thing about CSCC is that a lot of times the instructors are really just glorified high school teachers.  These instructors treat adult students like teenagers and show little consideration for one’s commitments to work and family, not just school.  In addition, this type of instructor is known to have be unfamiliar with new technology and the wonders of powerpoint lectures.,What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? The value is great.  Tuition is much lower at CSCC than any other state school in Central Ohio.  The advising services were superior to those I received at a major state university.  There is a huge selection of majors for a community college as well, and also lots of transfer agreements with four year schools.

What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? The class size is smaller than most schools of its size and it has the lowest cost per credit hour in the area. Also on the public bus lines. The students are actually taught by teachers many of which also work in their fields that they teach about. For example my geology teacher is also a land surveyer. The campus is the perfect size so one does not have to trek halfway across the city to get to class. We also get a large age range from people fresh out of high school to adults returning for a second career.,What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school? The classes are small and the teachers are great. In the event you get a bad teacher there is a student class survey near the end of the quarter that is handed out to the students to fill out and give their opinion. Also there are usally many offerings of the same class if it is a core class and there are online and hybrid options to fit any schedule. Finally the cost is the lowest in the area if not the whole state so I can actually afford to go to school.
