What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?I honestly haven’t found anything I don’t like about BSC.  Of concern to me and my mom late last summer, though, was the announcement that due to past accounting errors, the school would be cutting 1/5 of its budget (approx $10 million), with cutbacks including the phasing out of 5 majors and the layoff of 51 staff members.  It was an interesting and uncertain time for me to start my college career but BSC’s students, alumni and faculty, as well as the community at large, rallied ‘round. What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered?Birmingham-Southern is a liberal arts college dedicated to helping shape its students into global citizens. There’s an incredible spirit on campus that inspires us to experience cultures, religions, languages and lifestyles different from our own. It teaches us to challenge ourselves and requires us to journey beyond our comfort zones. My college education at BSC has already changed my life and the direction it will take. I’m eager to immerse myself in other cultures, and I yearn for knowledge and growth. A college education is the key that will open the doors that lay before me.

What is your school best known for?Its academics,What’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? The small campus size makes it more like a family; the athletes are very close, the academics challenging.  Birmingham is great, but the location of the school is not the best.
