Arkansas Tech University is a regional university located in one of the most beautiful rural parts of the country, between two national forests--the Ozark and Oachita. Under the institution’s president since 1993, Dr. Robert C. Brown, the university has improved and expanded its infrastructure and programs of study beginning in 1995. Quite a few of the university’s buildings appear in the National Register of Historic Places (the government’s list of buildings or sites deemed worthy of preservation), including a few residences halls (Caraway Hall, Hughes Hall, and Wilson Hall) and academic buildings (Techionery, Williamson Hall and Old Art Building). The institution’s library and technology center is also one of the most advanced in the nation.

What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?Nothing reallyWhat’s unique about your school compared to other schools you considered? The atmosphere between students and professors was wonderful. It is a very condusive college town and i will recommend it highly to any student. The weather is great and if you are an outdoor person,  you will love it.

What do you wish you had known before you came to this school? That it sets you up for a future. I honestly was not expecting everything that I have seen thus far. But it is about hard work and hard work is what you are going to have to put forth. I wish I would have known that. i thought it was going to be a breeze. Setting foot on the pavement said otherwise. Would not want it any other way though. You will get where you are going. What kind of person should attend this school?Honestly, whoever wants to attend this university should be willing to work, study hard and stay up late. Success is all about dedication and that is exactly what this college expects of you. You will do well here if you pay attention and give it your all. That means, no excuses and lots of sleepless nights. But in the end it will all be worth it. I would bet anything on that.

What kind of person should attend this school?Tech is a great school. The environment is friendly and welcoming, so everyone is welcome here. Our student body represents multiple ethnicities, cultures, and socioeconomic classes. Any one who wants a great experience for little cost should definitely think about Arkansas Tech. What’s the most frustrating thing about your school? The only frustrating thing for me about Tech is the low availability of mass transportation. I do not have a car, and there is only one small bus that takes students to the store once a week. That is the only thing that I would like to improve here.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?The lack of availability of some classes in the more specialized departments. If you dont get one class in it may not be offered for another year or more.Describe your classmates in one sentence. Most of my classmates are very down to earth, laid back country people who are here trying to better themselves financially and job wise.
