Arkansas Tech University is a regional university located in one of the most beautiful rural parts of the country, between two national forests--the Ozark and Oachita. Under the institution’s president since 1993, Dr. Robert C. Brown, the university has improved and expanded its infrastructure and programs of study beginning in 1995. Quite a few of the university’s buildings appear in the National Register of Historic Places (the government’s list of buildings or sites deemed worthy of preservation), including a few residences halls (Caraway Hall, Hughes Hall, and Wilson Hall) and academic buildings (Techionery, Williamson Hall and Old Art Building). The institution’s library and technology center is also one of the most advanced in the nation.

What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?One of the strongest aspects of Arkansas Tech University is the small size of the college. The small class sizes allow for heightened one on one interactions between students and professors, which allows stronger relationships to be formed. These relationships are beneficial both during college and afterwards. These teachers are more likely to remember personal details about you and your work, which adds strength to recommendation letters.What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?I brag that I am still close friends with many of my former professors and that I feel I always have a community to which I can return. I also brag about the opportunities I had for undergraduate research and field experience.

What do you wish you had known before you came to this school?I wish I had known that I only needed to get 1 point higher on the ACT to get a full ride at this school. I also wish I had known that I could work at the school to help pay for college. One more thing I wish I had known about is internships and how to attain them.What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?I really like that our enrollment is lower than other schools therefore our class sizes are smaller. I believe that this is easier for the teachers and students to communicate. I have bragged that my teachers have been more helpful to me than other professors at other schools have been to my friends.

What is your school best known for?The school here is best know for being academically balanced, being cheap to attend, and for giving lots of scholarships and financial aid. Almost eveyone that attends this school can get some sort of financial aid.,What do you consider the best thing about your school? Why?I think the best thing about this school is that every major has a good program. You get taught what you need and the teachers enjoy teaching you the material.
