Discover your Campus Today
CampusDiscovery collects ratings and advice from dozens of students at each college, then turns that data into useful information to help prospective students find the schools that are right for them. While other sites all focus on the same 200 or 300 well-known schools, CampusDiscovery.com will provide helpful information on thousands of colleges and universities across the country. That way, everyone will have the chance to “try” before they “buy.”
The concept behind CampusDiscovery.
Once upon a time, a group of people were trying to understand more about how parents and students feel about paying for college and they learned a lot about how complex and stressful the entire process of college planning and admissions can be.
One thing led to another, and they soon realized that there was a definite need for helpful and well-researched college planning advice. On September 1, 2007, that group started working full time on new ways to help families trying to navigate the long and winding road to college.
CampusDiscovery.com is the first fruit of all that research.
The first step toward this vision is to collect the data, and CampusDiscovery.com went live in July of 2008 to do just that. Then, prospective students started benefiting from the insights provided by over 70,000 college students in October of 2009 when WiseChoice (parent company of CampusDiscovery) launched its website for college matching.
In 2010 and 2011, we continued our data collection efforts, and now, in 2012, we have responses from well over 130,000 students. With school scorecards and campus reviews that provide rich insights for college-bound students and their parents, we are continuing to gather ratings and school reviews from current college students and recent grads across the nation.
Campus Discovery Launches New College Search Database
July 26, 2011 Goto Source
CampusDiscovery.com, a website helping prospective students find the right colleges, launched a free searchable college database providing a compilation of current students' reviews, ratings and statistics. The new database contains comprehensive information on thousands of schools, furthering students' ability to "try" before they "buy."
CampusDiscovery.com announced today the launch of a college database containing information on thousands of colleges. Each school’s profile includes crucial information that students should consider when assessing their unique "fit" at a particular institution. The free searchable database is a key addition to the CampusDiscovery website; students can leave the website with a comprehensive understanding of colleges and campus characteristics.
CampusDiscovery.com was created to provide students with the inside scoop about particular colleges – based on survey responses from current and recent students. The new college database features proprietary reviews and commentary on schools that can help students develop their own opinions about colleges, instead of relying on the school websites or brochures.
However, peer reviews are not the only information students consider when researching colleges. Students consider a wide array of facts from academics and activities to location and cost. The new searchable database allows students to take all of these factors into consideration in one easy-to-use location.
Each school’s profile contains information about student life, campus setting, admissions, academics, financial aid, contact information, and proprietary reviews. This new addition makes the website a one-stop destination for students to check out the school’s information.
The searchable database is easy to use. It allows students to search schools by name, major, and state. Many filtering options exist to help searchers narrow down the schools they are exploring. Variables like 'college size,' 'college setting' and 'estimated total cost' can help refine searches to provide the best results.
In addition to offering the free database, CampusDiscovery.com offers a scholarship to current students or recent graduates of a U.S. college.
CampusDiscovery.com is part of the WiseChoice Education Network and is an affiliate of parent company WiseChoice Brands, LLC. CampusDiscovery.com has been collecting data since 2008, and has compiled surveys from over 127,000 students.
